How to Read Your Electric Meter
Your electric meter measures electricity used in kilowatt-hours (kWh). To calculate usage, subtract last month’s reading from this month’s reading.
- If a dial hand is right on a number, look at the dial to the right. If the right dial has passed zero, record the number the left hand indicates. If not, record the last number the left dial passed.
- Some dials turn clockwise, some counterclockwise.
- Example: 46,372 (new) minus 45,109 (last month) = 1,263 kWh used.
